After reading the title for this LSA newsletter, you may be wondering “what is a movement?”
The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines it as “a series of organized activities in which many people work together to do or achieve something”. La Union Ignite is a group of people in La Union Province, the Philippines, who are working together to mobilize local churches into Great Commission work.
And what is meant by “Great Commission work”? It is fulfilling Matthew 28:19—20 which reads, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
As LSA has been working toward reaching the least-reached tribes in the northern
region of Luzon Island, we have been working in mission mobilization work for the past year or so. When La Union Ignite came to San Fernando, I was curious to find out
more about who they were and what they were doing. Kay and I attended their three-
day
“IGNITE SEMINAR” in March.
We
were pleasantly surprised that the facilitators represented a mission mobilizing organization from Thailand, SVM2.
The
purpose of the
IGNITE SEMINAR was to help pastors better define their
churches’ responsibilities and roles in missions as in Act 1:8…making disciples in Jerusalem, and Judea, and Samaria and the uttermost part
of the earth.

In April, Kay traveled to Manila to attend another three-day training by the same organization and in May, Kay and Anne attended a 1-day planning session held by the same facilitators. After the planning session, LSA is now fully recognized as a member organization of the LA UNION IGNITE movement.

Sis Anne recently signed an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) with A.I.M.S. to use their Harvest Connection Seminar materials to train pastors and use as part of the bible school curriculum when she begins teaching at Nations for Christ Bible Institute (NCBI) in Ilocos Sur Province. Sis Anne and LSA have had a long-term relationship with Pastor Mel Lodevico and NCBI. She will be teaching missions beginning in July to their students to better help prepare them to pastor great commission-minded churches when they graduate.
On July 4-5, the La Union Ignite members will attend a HARVEST CONNECTION Seminar at the LSA ministry center so that they will fully comprehend how it will help churches understand their responsibility in great commission work. This is an exciting opportunity for LSA to go forward in its vision to mobilize churches and help them learn the importance for all believers to make disciples.

Through the faithful support of our partners, the vital work of reaching the least- reached people groups is within our grasp. Thank you for being part of our mission team.
